Question-3
Permutations and Combinations
Out of a group of six men and eight women, you need to form a committee of three men and five women. In how many ways can the committee be formed\(?\)
Hint
Use the concept of combination.
Answer
1120
Solution
Since, we can choose 3 men out of 6 men and 5 women out of 8 women in \(^6C_3 = 20\) and \(^8C_5 = 56\) ways respectively. Therefore, total number of ways in which committee can be formed = \(20 \times 56 = 1120\).
